A New Job Opportunity for Unemployed Young People: “Data Security Skilled Worker” for SMEs

SMEs in partner countries are lacking of qualified non-academic skilled workers in the field of ICT. This affects their capacity of utilization of ICT in their service and production lines. This is underlined in many reports or researches on SMEs (e.g. SPO, Strategy and Action Plan of SMEs, Preliminary National Development Plan (PNDP), Five Years Development Plan, KOSGEB reports, MAP for SMEs etc.).  One of the main weaknesses of SMEs underlined in the PNDP is low usage of the information and communication Technologies.

The proposed project plans to develop vocational qualifications for a new occupation: “Data Security Skilled Worker” for SMEs” in order to contribute to the validation of formal and informal VET. Also, this project aims to contribute to the “European Qualifications Framework”. In addition it aims to introduce this new occupation to the vocational education systems of the partner countries for recognition with the objective of creating job opportunities to unemployed young people. Training young people as “Data Security Skilled Worker” is also in line with the EU policy in the current work of the World Summit on Information Society.

The project mainly aims to contribute to “Priority 3 – Transparency and recognition of competences and qualifications” in Turkey in partner countries, at EU level as a whole. In this context, the partners aim to increase the competencies of human resources through the development of VQs, and methodologies and materials for training, testing and certification. In the pilot run, the trainees will be certified by Türkiye Bilişim Derneği/Informatics Association of Turkey who is accredited to give “European Computer Driving License” certificates by the ECDL Foundation at EU level.
